Discuss a crypto-backed loan

How it works

Collateral with a value. A loan with a plan.

A crypto-backed loan uses eligible cryptocurrency as security for borrowing. The amount available depends on the accepted assets, their assessed value and the agreed loan-to-value limit.

Collateral does not replace a repayment plan. The assessment should consider the purpose of the finance, your ability to repay and how changes in the value of the collateral would be managed.

Introduce your requirement

Before any agreement

Know what supports your loan.

Accepted assets, currencies, loan limits, rates, fees and terms must be confirmed for the proposed arrangement. No standard rate or loan-to-value ratio is promised here.

Keep your first message general. Never send a seed phrase, private key, wallet password or payment credentials through the enquiry form.

Understand the arrangement

Four details. One informed decision.

01

Eligible collateral

Confirm which cryptocurrency assets are accepted, how their value is calculated and how often they are revalued.

02

Custody and release

Establish who holds the collateral, how it is protected and how it is released after the loan is repaid.

03

Repayment and total cost

Review the loan currency, interest, fees, term, repayment schedule and the full amount payable.

04

Price falls and liquidation

Understand the thresholds for adding collateral or repaying part of the loan, and when collateral may be sold.

Plan for changing markets

What if the price falls? Understand the consequences.

A fall in the value of the pledged cryptocurrency can increase the loan-to-value ratio. Depending on the agreement, you may need to provide more collateral or reduce the outstanding loan within a specified period.

If the required action is not taken, collateral may be sold under the agreed terms. Sale proceeds may not cover the full outstanding balance and charges. Review any remaining liability before signing.

Cryptocurrency prices can change sharply. A loan secured by crypto carries both borrowing obligations and exposure to changes in collateral value.
